The big chair and MyCareer are proud to support The AFR and BOSS magazine's Young Executive awards.

The AFR BOSS Young Executive of the Year awards recognises the achievements of our aspiring future senior leaders by identifying six young Australians with the skills, talent and drive needed to make a successful leader.

The competition will assess candidates through interviews conducted by our high-level panel of judges, and an assessment process by leadership development and succession management firm DDI. The winners will be announced in the July 2009 issue of AFR BOSS.

WHO CAN ENTER?

You must be 35 years or under at July 31, 2009, and a working Australian resident. You must be an employee and your employer must give approval.

HOW DO I ENTER?

Go to www.afrboss.com.au and fill in the entry form. Provide brief answers to the questions. Entries are to be emailed only.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

Six of the best young leaders in corporate Australia: motivated, with strong management skills, knowledge of their jobs, and the maturity to understand how they and their colleagues operate. At least five years work experience and an interest in the wider world and business in the community is also important.

THE PROCESS.

A shortlist of 10 finalists will be interviewed by a panel of three judges. The panel will select six winners.

This year’s judges are:
 Bonnie Boezeman, AO, CEO, Business Benefits International;
 Patrick Grier, director and former CEO Ramsay Health Care;
 Steve Vamos, president of the Society for Know-ledge Economics, formerly with Microsoft.

The 10 candidates will attend a DDI “day-in-the-life” strategic leadership assessment as part of the judging process. Employers may be contacted for reference purposes and CVs checked.

Entries close 5pm, Friday May 1, 2009.

Market Report Friday July 25 - PM
A bloody end to the week - the biggest one-day fall in six months - as the market seems to over-react to NAB's announcement of extra provisioning.
