- Repeat business based on strong relationships
- Established and successful medium sized company
- 5 day week, very positive culture, opportunity for equity
Our client seeks to appoint a General Manager of Civil Construction for a long term key role in the company. The focus of this role is upon hands-on team leadership, maintaining and developing strong client relationships, and astute business management. Annual turnover for this division is $20-30million, and key business challenges inherent to this role include continuity of work, and developing growth within two particular civil industry sub-sectors. This success of this company is predominantly attributable to repeat business with clients based on strong relationships, so client relationship management is of primary importance. This role reports to the CEO, with direct reports including supervisors, foremen and subcontractors. Key responsibilities include safety, quality, environment, operations management, commercial management and business development.
Our client is a medium sized civil construction contractor with a long established successful history in Melbourne. The majority of project work is oriented around site development and site works for major contractors and property developers, including excavation, roads, drainage, footpaths, car parks, and subdivision works. This company enjoys a family-oriented culture with an open, supportive, friendly and honest environment. Unlike the major contractors, all staff only work a five day week and the business prides itself on a family-friendly work-life balance for all staff.
As the ideal candidate, you are a qualified civil engineer with significant experience in civil construction and management within Australia. You bring proven leadership capability and the desire to drive your staff to find their niche and passion in life. You understand the importance of client relationships, when to stand your ground and how to achieve repeat business. Importantly, you are also committed to a long term role and bring a high level of professionalism and passion for your career. A competitive salary package will be offered to the successful appointee of $150-160K, and is negotiable as commensurate with experience. Significant equity participation in the business will also be offered after an initial settling in period.
