The Executive Director Hospital and Health Services (ED H&HS) is the pivotal role providing leadership, direction and management to the Hospital & Health Services Division of the Victorian Department of Health. Reporting to the Secretary, and a key member of the Departmental Executive, the ED H&HS provides high-level authoritative policy advice and briefings to the Minister, Secretary and senior management on the performance, funding and expenditure of Victoria’s 90 public health services and Ambulance Victoria.
With a Divisional budget of $9B and effectively the Chief Operating Officer of the Department, the role oversees the Divisional Branches which include Acute Performance & Rural Health; Quality, Safety & Patient Experience; Funding & Information Policy; Health Services Employee relations; capital & major projects and the CIO, HealthSmart. This significant role is accountable for strategic planning, budgets and delivery of the Division’s programs and services and the management of a $2.3B capital program.
As a highly influential and strategic leader, you will demonstrate deep understanding of the health sector and national health issues, bring excellent fiscal and people management skills, and be experienced in building and fostering cross government and cross sectoral partnerships. With expertise in driving complex programs through to effective outcomes, matched with a high level of political acumen, you will bring the leadership and inspiration to help achieve the best health and wellbeing for all Victorians.
Relevant Tertiary qualifications are required.

The Hospital & Health Service Performance (H&HS) division of the Department is responsible for the governance, performance, funding and policy settings for public hospitals and public health services across Victoria. The division provides a single liaison point on all hospital and health service issues including funding, patient access, quality and safety, workforce, buildings and I&CT.
