Hurstville, the ‘heart of St George’, is a major regional centre recognised as one of the fastest growing areas in metropolitan Sydney. The City has a number of major residential, retail and commercial centres, and is well positioned for a sustainable future with a diverse community of over 75,000 people.
The Chief Financial Officer is a pivotal role within Council operating in an environment where Finance is an integrating force advising and working with all business units.
Reporting to the Director - Administration, the CFO will manage all strategic and transactional finance functions of Council, an enterprise with a budget of over $70 million. Leading a multi – disciplinary team, the role encompasses all facets of management reporting, statutory accounts, budgeting, cash flow, treasury and investment portfolio management. Key challenges include planning and funding of capital projects, driving process efficiencies, mitigating business risk, optimising team performance and enhancing financial knowledge of business unit managers and stakeholders.
Candidates will need to be experienced CFOs or talented Finance Managers ready to step up to CFO level. Professional qualifications as a CPA or CA are required, as is well rounded financial and management accounting experience gained in public or private sector environments. Key attributes include strong leadership, integrity, technical competence, collaborative people skills and innovation with the ability to contribute at both a strategic and operational level with an enterprising Council.
