The client is a broad based engineering services company engaged in the design, provision and maintenance of essential services in road and rail infrastructure.
The National Engineering Manager is the commercial leader a technical function that deals with transport projects across Australia that range in value from $50m - $500m.
The role reports to the division’s Executive General Manager, manages a team of Principal Engineers, liaises with diverse Business Unit Managers and varied Project Managers and contributes significantly to the daily running of the business.
Key tasks are to:
- Centralise of the company’s national engineering resources
- Ensure timely delivery of engineering services to road and rail transport projects
- Supervise numerous multi-disciplinary engineering groups
- Prioritise the competing demands for technical resources
- Provide technical leadership for all engineering activities, including technical interface with clients
- Oversee tenders and projects from design to delivery
- Ensure that new business opportunities and tenders align with the company’s global strategy
- Provide accurate information about the business to senior management
- Enhance the company’s pool of engineering resources
- Maintain OH&S and environmental practices
The successful candidate will have:
- A university degree in engineering (or equivalent)
- Demonstrable leadership in multi-disciplinary engineering projects
- Experience in heavy engineering projects
- A collaborative style
- An orientation for outcomes
- Commercial acumen
